KACHIN STATE – According to a military source in the Kachin region, there was a fierce battle on October 4 night near Aungja village in Momauk township, which is near Laiza, the headquarters of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA).
KIA and junta forces have been fighting continuously since the beginning of July near the area of the Laiza headquarters. It is said that the fighting continued fiercely on October 4th at 7:00 p.m. near Aungja village on the Myitkyina-Bhamo road.
“The battle was fierce on the Aungja side. At midnight, 2 jet fighters came up from the side of the bridge and dropped bombs on the Aungja and Lwaylon Mountain,” said a military source in the Kachin region.
He said that the air strikes took place on October 4 at 11:37 p.m., 11:40 p.m., 11:45 p.m. and 11:51 p.m.
The situation after the fighting and airstrike is still under investivagion.
In the previous days, KIA and the junta council also attacked each other with heavy weapons in Aungja area. KIA also attacked and occupied 1 junta council’s camp near Aungja village in September.
