MYANMAR – The National Unity Government of Myanmar, or NUG, announced that they held a meeting with Timor-Leste to discuss collaborations in the spring revolution.
NUG officials, along with Timor-Leste President Jose Ramos-Horta, convened outside the United Nations on Friday (September 22).
Foreign Minister Ms. Zin Mar Aung, UN’s Myanmar Representative Mr. Kyaw Moe Tun, Health and Education Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, and Human Rights Vice-Minister Mr. Aung Kyaw Moe attended the meeting.
Timor-Leste is the very first ASEAN country to recognize NUG and has also urged the international community to support Myanmar Crisis and the Myanmar People during the United Nations’ speech.
The junta council delayed diplomatic discussions with Timor-Leste last month and also expelled the temporary chief of the Timor-Leste embassy on August 25.
Myanmar Representatives, led by NUG Foreign Minister Zin Mar Aung, also held meetings with the United States’ East Asia and Pacific Bureau Vice-Foreign Minister Daniel Joseph Kritenbrink two days ago to exert pressure on the junta council through economic, political, and diplomatic means.
