YANGON DIVISION – According to military sources, a junta’s military court has sentenced to death a post-graduate student from the Tatmadaw University of Medical Sciences who posted posts inciting rebellion against the army on the social network Facebook.
A 32-year-old military doctor who was attending the 29th batch of the postgraduate course in Mingaladon Military Medical University Faculty of Medicine for writing articles inciting to rebel against the army on social networks. He was arrested in May for sharing news and posts that were bad about the military. Four months after that, the junta’s military court, Yangon Regional Military Command, sentenced him to rebellion against the army.
“A master’s degree student was sentenced to death a few days ago by the junta’s military court of the Yangon Regional Military Command for writing social media posts against the military. He is attending the 29th batch of the Master of Science in Medicine. I know his name and graduation batch, but I don’t feel comfortable saying them,” said an army source.
The officer who was sentenced to death is a native of Mandalay, and he was arrested and sentenced to death when attending the third year of the Master Course.
