KARENNI STATE – It was reported that more than 1,300 of displaced people who had been forced to run away and hiding in the jungle due to the junta’s aerial bombings in Hpruso Township, are in need of tarpaulins and mosquito nets, according to News Light In Karenni (NLK).
“At present, we don’t see the sun for the time being in the western part of Hpruso Township. It’s raining constantly. That’s why, the displaced people said that they are in need of tarpaulins and mosquito nets,” said the official of NLK.
Those displaced people are from the villages in the western part of Hpruso Township, and they had been forced to flee from their homes and hide in the jungle due to the junta’s unprovoked aerial bombings in their villages without any battle.
Until now, they have not dared to return to their homes and continue to live in the jungle, so there is an urgent need for tarpaulins and mosquito nets during this rainy season.
“We don’t have enough shelters as we are sheltering in the jungle. During the rainy season, when it rains heavily, we will get sick from colds and flu. If not, you can lose our lives. In particular, we need mosquito nets. We are being bitten by mosquitoes and sand flies anyway, as we had to sleep without mosquito nets. Those who have actually experienced the feeling of sleeping without a mosquito net know that feeling,” said a displaced person.
In addition, because there are not enough food supplies for displaced people, the elderly and children may also suffer from malnutrition-related diseases.
