SHAN STATE – The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) stated that a junta convoy of around twenty trucks left Laukkai on Wednesday (June 7) and headed to the Tarshwehtan area.
Although the details of the clashes are not announced by both sides, there had reportedly been some clashes in the Tarshwehtan area, stated an informer from Kokang.
“Twenty trucks from Laukkai headed to Tarshwehtan this morning. In Kokang, clashes are happening in the area of Tarshwehtan Village as well as at Laukkai Township. There had also been a clash in Lashio on June 5. Now the junta’s backup troops are sent to Tarshwehtan,” stated the informer.
In the Tarshwehtan area, there are some MNDAA’s Brigade 511 camps. Although no news about the ongoing clash is announced today (June 7), MNDAA issued a release that there were clashes in at least four places in Kokang Region on June 4 and 5.
During those clashes, about twenty junta casualties resulted from an attack on a junta truck, stated MNDAA.
The junta troops and their affiliates, Pyithusit militias, have been raiding the MNDAA camps since June 2 and clashes have been going on almost on a daily basis. Now, as the junta regime sends backup forces toward the battleground, clashes may continue, stated the Kokang informer.
Three Northern (Brotherhood) Alliance Forces, including MNDAA, met the junta regime (mediated by China) on June 1 at Mongla Township to discuss peace. However, the meeting ended without any settlement, and clashes have sparked continuously since the next day, June 2.
