SHAN STATE – A military source reported that after the junta council arrested the six Brigadier Generals who surrendered to the revolutionary forces in Laukkai, northern Shan State, the soldiers under those Brigadier Generals are regrouping with plans to turn on the junta council.
“The forces under the six Brigadier Generals are picking up arms and regrouping. They might possibly join in when the revolutionary forces attack Lashio. Now, the junta air force is chasing those groups and bombing them,” said the military source.
Currently, the junta council is bombing the areas suspected to be hideouts of those forces with fighter jets and conducted aerial bombings in Maiyaw Prefecture, Lashio Township on January 11.
“The junta council is bombing the places where they suspect those forces are hiding. Junta planes dropped 37 bombs in Maiyaw Prefecture, Lashio Township,” said the military source.
After the junta council arrested the six Brigadier Generals who surrendered in the Regional Operations Command of Laukkai, the General Staff (First Class) (G1) Lt. Col. Thet Hteik Lin and his troops fled.
After surrendering in Laukkai, Lt. Col. Thet Hteik Lin and his troops moved from Laukkai area to Tan Yang. After that, the junta council took the six Brigadier Generals from the Laukkai Regional Operations Command to Lashio by helicopter and when the news came out that the six would be arrested and taken into custody, the General Staff (First Class) Lt. Col. Thet Htike Lin and the troops fled from Tan Yang.
“Hearing the news that the six Brigadier Generals were being taken into custody, G1 from Laukkai Lt. Colonel Thet Hteik Lin called his comrades and ran away from Tan Yang. The officers and the soldiers were not satisfied with the cases of their commander and Brigadier Generals being taken into custody.
