TANINTHARYI DIVISION – On Wednesday evening (May 31st), the junta forces abducted three monks and one woman from the Aung Thapyay monastery in the D Residential Ward in downtown Launglone.
One well-known monk, Kodaw Naing, was also among those abducted. Around 3 p.m., junta soldiers from the Launglone Police Station arrived in two cars and took them away. “We heard that the monks argued among themselves,” said a resident.
The resident added that their arrest is not politically motivated. The monastery was raided by junta troops last year, and it is unknown whether the three monks and the woman were forcibly taken from there.
In Launglone Township, the junta council soldiers have been abducting numerous civilians in response to the attack on the immigration office and the junta’s administrator.
Currently, civilians are being abducted and held in the prison cells at the Launglone Police Station, and it’s reported that the prison cell is also in lower space.
