THAILAND – Thailand Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin announced on his social media page that due to the rapidly changing situation in Myanmar, he convened an emergency meeting on April 9 morning and formed a working committee.
He stressed that the situation in Myanmar is important for Thailand and informed that Thailand is working to formulate policies for the benefit of peace and stability in Myanmar and the people of the two countries, that an emergency meeting was convened on April 9 morning to discuss the Thai-Myanmar border issue, that Thailand is supporting humanitarian aid and is ready to work with all fields for the stability and peace in Myanmar, including border trade. The Prime Minister of Thailand added that the potential effects on border trade due to the current situation are being studied and monitored.
After that, a working committee on Myanmar affairs will be formed to be led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and the secretary of the Thai Security Department will be jointly responsible with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is learned that the Secretary of the Thai Security Department provides support in the political, economic and social processes of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
