KACHIN STATE – KIA comrades surrounded and blocked Lwegel Town, the China-Myanmar Border, and let the junta soldiers and staff leave within one day, said the source.
On March 27 and 28, KIA captured seven junta camps, including Yaw Yone Strategic Camp on Banmaw-Lwegel Road, and surrounded Lwegel Town on March 29 (Friday) morning.
“KIA comrades won’t capture Lwegel and permit the junta soldiers and staff to leave within one day,” said a KIA source.
If the junta soldiers try to flee to China, China might open the border gates, said the source. Lwegel Town has a trading zone of China-Myanmar, and KIA already captured Yaw Yone junta camp, which mainly controls the trading zone.
KIA official Major Naw Bu hasn’t commented on the condition of Lwegel Town. At Lwegel, only one junta camp is left, and that camp couldn’t receive reinforcement. Some firings have happened at Lwegel, but it’s only the junta soldiers firing.
KIA has already captured the junta camps on Banmaw-Lwegel Road within days, and Sein Lone Strategic Camp is the only one left on that road section.
