KARENNI STATE – Residents said that two junta council soldiers who were on hidden sentry duty in the city of Loikaw in Karenni State ran away with weapons and there were blockades and searches in the city.
It is said that the two junta soldiers stationed in No. 5 Basic Education High School Loikaw, ran away on Saturday (September 9). “I heard that they ran away yesterday evening (September 9). Now junta forces are desperately looking for them in the city, in civilian clothes as well as in groups,” explained a resident of Loikaw.
A lance corporal of the junta council who has been joined to CDM recently informed that runaway cases occur in the junta battalion units in Loikaw City, the only region in Karenni State where the military council mechanism can operate, due to the deployment to Demoso, Hpruso and Bawlakhe, where the fighting is currently raging, and the death and injuries are very common.
“Currently, the 2nd Military Operations Command and the 55th Division from Rakhine are operating in Karenni. But it is not enough, so they have called the battalions from the Triangle Command. Who would want to go there if they are going to be dead?” he said.
According to information from the Karenni People’s Embrace Office, there are more than 300 policemen and 130 military council soldiers who have joined CDM in Karenni (Kayah) State in more than two years since the military coup.
In addition, about 20 military council soldiers who are still under investigation (not identified as CDM) are also under the Karenni People’s Embrace program.
