KARENNI STATE- It has been reported by a responsible person from the Progressive Karenni People Force (PKPF) that three civilians, including one woman, died due to firing of junta soldiers, who came for reinforcement, without any battle happening today (July 11) at 7 a.m. in Loikaw Township, Karenni (Kayah) State.
He added, “ The car hadn’t stopped and fired from moving car with guns.”
Because of that firing, one middle-aged woman in Nywarlawoo village market and a 17-year-old boy in Konethar village, Loikaw Township, died of gunshot wounds.
Nywarlawoo village was two miles from Loikaw, and Konethar village was about six miles from Loikaw Township. Villagers were just living there and there were some injured people because of that firing.
And junta soldier who came for reinforcement with 15 junta cars from Moebyal to Loikaw Township fired the civilians without any reason.
A responsible person from PKPF said that they were recklessly fired because they were afraid they were going to be attacked by people’s defense forces.
He added that there were 15 junta cars, but I only saw five. They were going to Loikaw Township for reinforcements. Because they had been attacked by the People’s Defense Force before, they were afraid and recklessly fired.
Junta Council attacked with air strikes IDP camps in the Western part of Demoso Township, Karenni State, on July 4, resulting in three family members, including a 2-year-old child, being injured.
It has been reported by the list of PKPF that 365 civilians have been killed by junta troops in Karenni State since the junta coup in June of this year (2023).
