KARENNI STATE – The battles in Loikaw town has been intense since November 11, and the number of people fleeing the town are increasing day by day, which led to the emergency need of food and basic utilities, according to the IDPs helpers.
The trapped IDPs and the rescuers became the target of the terrorist junta soldiers’ attacks and, thereby the transportation is delaying.
“I’m preparing to cook and serve with a week’s worth of rice, oil, salt and beans. We urgently require basic rations, shelters, temporary tents, blankets and mosquito nets. We are especially facing insufficient budget,” said a KHAI (Karenni Humanitarian Aid Initiative) official.
KHAI announced that more than 400 IDPs who were trapped in Loikaw downtown have been rescued in cooperation with KHAI and partner organizations as of November 16.
A car carrying IDPs who fled the city was targeted and shot in Loikaw downtown on November 16 morning and so the people did not dare to leave, resulting in less people whom were helped to leave the town, reported the on ground IDPs helpers.
