SAGAING DIVISION – A member of People’s Defence Organization (PDO) from Hlataw Village in Wetlet Township died after getting shot by junta troops, reported the organization.
At around 4 a.m. on Tuesday (August 29), two PDO members: 33-year-old Mr. Aung Naing Win and 29-year-old Mr. Oo, went to scout on the junta forces stationed at Shwemhontaw Pagoda in Hlataw Village when they were shot by junta hidden sentries. Mr. Oo was killed on the spot while Mr. Aung Naing Win was wounded.
“Our comrades from the camp fired four rounds into that direction but there weren’t any return fire so we assumed that there were any junta forces there and the two went to scout. They were shot on the bridge in front of the Pagoda premises,” detailed an official from Hlataw People’s Defence Force.
The injured, Mr. Aung Naing Win is said to be receiving medical treatment while the dead body of Mr. Oo is yet to be collected.
“Aung Naing Win was shot in the back, thigh and stomach. He fell into the creek after getting shot and was carried by the stream to a villager’s hut. We were contacted from there and went to pick him up,” continued the above official.
Around 80 junta terrorists entered and made up in Hlataw Village on August 28 around 3 a.m. then spilt into two groups on the early morning of August 29, with one group invading Ywarthargyi Village located around five miles from Hlataw Village and the other group setting up hidden sentries at the Shwemhontaw Pagoda.
In addition, the junta sentries are said to have killed and eaten the villagers’ livestock and also stole the belongings of the villagers.
That junta group had murdered three men and one woman from Kyeekan (North) and Kyeekan (South) Villages just recently on August 26.
