SAGAING DIVISION – According to the locals, a member of the defence force was killed in a battle between the military council troops and the local allied defence forces at the police station in Hla Taw Village, Wetlet Township.
The attack took place on October 10, around 7:00 p.m. During the attack, a member of the Tway Ma Shaung Defence Force was killed.
“They were shooting continuously from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. It didn’t stop. They were shooting at each other between the two sides,” said a local man.
A 50-year-old woman from Hlataw Village was seriously injured and her arm was amputated due to the military troops firing with large weapons into the village when the two sides stopped firing, a local said.
In addition, the locals from Kyeekan (South and North) Villages as well as Hla Taw Village also had to flee overnight.
In addition, at around 6:00 p.m. on October 10, the defence forces attacked three military council vehicles that came to reinforce the Hla Taw Village Police Station with mines near Thana Village, north of Hla Taw Village. One of the vehicles was left behind, and only the other two vehicles arrived at the village.
Junta soldiers increased their strength around the police station and burned down houses in Hla Taw Village on the morning of October 11.
