YANGON DIVISION – It’s been reported that the junta army and the police seized flowers from vendors and citizens on the morning of June 19 in Hlaing Tharyar Township.
On June 19, at 7:00 a.m., Hlaing Tharyar Township, Ward 20 In possession 6, the military car, the police car and members of the neighborhood administration arrived on motorcycles and seized the flowers from flower sellers, people who were wearing flowers in their hair and holding flowers.
“In Hlaing Tharyar West 20 Ward, near Yoe Lay Bridge, they seized all the flowers from flower sellers and the people. Military vehicles, police cars, and even the head of the village came and forced them to take all the flowers they saw into the house while still preparing to change flower offerings at the Buddha statue in front of the house,” said a resident of Hlaing Tharyar Township.
Similarly, Military cars, police cars, and Pyu Saw Htees checked if there were flower strike activities in other neighborhoods in Hlaing Tharyar Township. Some of the vendors were also asked not to sell flowers.
“Today, the flower sellers cannot sell. They said that the flowers would be destroyed if the sellers continue to sell, so the sellers were afraid and took them back. The women who were wearing flowers on their hair were asked to remove the flowers from their heads. Junta also asked them if they wanted to be arrested. Even flowers are no longer allowed to be worn freely,” said a resident of Mee Khwat Market, Hlaing Tharyar Township.
Today (June 19) is the 78th birthday of Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi, when the country is celebrating with a flower strike, the military council is trying to ban flower strike activities.
