SAGAING DIVISION – Residents reported that dead bodies of civilians and burned skeletal remains were discovered near Thonesintkan Village in Wet Let Township, where the junta forces were stationed.
After the junta terrorists left Thonesintkan Village, located beside the Sagaing-Shwebo railroad, on October 17 after staying in the village for nearly a month and a half, local defence forces conducted sweeping operations and found burnt skeletal remains in the village and two dead bodies in an empty field to the north of the village, stated Wet Let based Nan Tat Min Local People’s Defence Force (LPDF).
Bo. Zat Lite, the leader of the LPDF said, “Bodies were thrown into a house in the village and set on fire. It is estimated that the (skeletal) remains were of three people.”
As for the two dead bodies, one is thought to be that of a woman based on the amount of hair, while the other is assumed to be that of a man based on the clothing, he added. Both bodies are said to have decayed beyond the point of recognition.
Around one month prior, after the junta forces were stationed in the village, a member of the Nyaungpingyitaw Village Defence Team and his son were arrested on their way to the fields, and a female CDM school teacher along with a defence team member and his brother from Yaythaukkan Village were also arrested near the village.
Although locals believe the skeletal remains and dead bodies to be those arrested, it is currently impossible to confirm the identity of the deceased victims.
A maintenance train and several train coaches of the junta council have arrived near Paukkan Station in Wet Let Township to repair the Sagaing-Shwebo railroad, and junta infantry troops accompanied those trains for security.
However, even after a month and a half have passed, those junta trains are still stuck at Paukkan Station while the maintenance train is still going back and forth between Paukkan Station and Wetluai Station, which is about two miles north, conducting repair works.
