SAGAING DIVISION – On Wednesday (July 12) at around 8 a.m., approximately 70 junta soldiers raided Tha Line Village and murdered Mr. Than Chaung, 60, who was in the village and unable to flee due to poor health.
Later, at around 10 a.m., the junta troops raided Thone Sint Kan Village, which is located two miles away from Tha Line Village. They rested there overnight and the following morning, at around 6 a.m., the junta soldiers set fire to several houses in the village.
Mr. February One from the support group in Wetlet Township stated, “We still don’t know how many houses were burnt down during the junta’s arson attack. The villagers don’t dare to go back and are still fleeing. PDF comrades are currently carrying out a clearance operation in the village.”
Thone Sint Kan Village, with over 100 houses, experienced arson attack by the junta council for the first time. The civilians affected by the junta’s arson attack are now in need of provisions, medicine, and shelter.
After setting fire to Thone Sint Kan Village, the junta column launched an offensive at Pauk Kan Village, which is over two miles away from Thone Sint Kan Village. They proceeded to set fire to ten houses in the village.
“Pauk Kan Village has over 200 houses, and it’s the first time that the junta soldiers have set it on fire. The villagers are returning to the village, and the junta troops are currently stationed at Htan Gyi Village, engaging in sporadic small arms fire,” stated an official from the Wetlet Informational Network.
On July 4, the junta council soldiers set fire to 35 houses at Shwe Kyin Village, located east of Wetlet Township, and abducted four civilians.
