SAGAING DIVISION – On June 24, the leading committee of the public strike in Wet Let Township said that 2.5 million Myanmar Kyats had been provided to 100 households that had become homeless due to the arson attack by the terrorist military council in Wet Let Township, Shwe Bo District, in Sagaing Division.
On May 17, Wet Let Township was burned down by the terrorist council troops, leaving them homeless.
Ko Lwin Moe Thant, a member of the Wet Lek public strike leadership committee, said that 100 households of more than 500 local residents who were made homeless were assisted for a total of MMK 2.5 million at a rate of 25,000 MMK per household.
Ko Lwin Moe Thant explained the difficulties the locals are facing, saying, “They are doing their traditional handicrafts and traditional farming work. However, both their homes and the resources for farming have all gone up in flames. There are difficulties in daily living.”
In 2022, in Wet Let township, from mid-March to early June 2023, there were more than 60 villages that were burned down by the junta council forces, and more than 4,000 people were facing hardships.
On June 18th, members of the Wetlet Township Public Strike Steering Committee also provided food to a fire-affected village with people’s donations.
