KACHIN STATE – It is known that U Shwe Min Lisu militia group forcibly abducted 2 men in Aung Myay (1) village, Waimaw Township, Kachin State.
On December 28, a local resident of Aung Myay (1) village said that on December 28th around 8 a.m., the militia forces arrested U La Shi Naw Lun in the morning market.
“One was arrested last night, and another one at the morning market. I don’t know why they were arrested. As far as I can hear, they are saying that they are in contact with KIA,” he said.
It is said that the militia groups came and arrested Tonshein Nou Teng from his home at 7 p.m. on December 27th.
Locals said that the 2 men who were arrested now were abducted on the allegation that they were related to the Kachin Independence Army (KIA).
Of the 2 people currently arrested, it is known that Tonshein Nou Teng has been sent to the Northern Regional Military Command for questioning, and U La Shi Naw Lun, who was arrested in the morning market, has been detained at Aung Myay (1) Militia Station.
The 2 arrested men are not affiliated with any armed organization and are living in the region supporting their families.
It is also reported that U Shwe Min’s Lisu militias have recently started arresting some village elders who are working in community affairs in the region, accusing them of being related to the KIA.
In the last few months, arrests have been made in the region that are related to the KIA, and they have been sent to junta’s Northern Regional Military Command.
