BAGO DIVISION- Locals reported that the junta council arrested NLD party members and their supporters in about 8 villages in Waw township.
At around 11 o’clock on February 7th, more than 100 military council forces attacked the Myitkyo, Gwe Gyi, Kyauk Pon, Oak Pho, Hsat Thwa Choan, Arkway, Bagan, and U Po Sein villages. It is said that a terrorist army raided villages, NLD party members, and those who supported them during the campaign period.
“From Gwe Gyi, U Po Sein and his son were arrested. Many other villages were also raided and arrested. They are still raiding the villages. Even in the time that I am telling you, it is still storming in the villages,” said a local.
When the junta council came to arrest the locals, they came with a list of names and arrested them along with their names, so it is possible, according to the findings from the previous arrestees.
At the time of arrest, the phones and computers belonging to the arrested were confiscated and homes were searched.
Locals said that 12 people from Myitkyo village, 2 from Gwe Kyi, about 5 from Bagan village and 3 to 5 people from other villages were arrested, and the total number of people arrested could be around 30.
Among those arrested are men and women between the ages of 25 and 60. It was said that the exact number of men and women could not be confirmed yet.
It is reported that some of those arrested today are currently being detained at the Myitkyo Police Station and the Waw Police Station and are about to be taken to the Payagyi interrogation center for questioning.
About 200 troops from the Junta Council attacked Myitkyo, Latpan, Anyasu, Hsin Ywa and Ahtet Wine Pat villages on January 24th, around 10:00 a.m. They entered the houses in villages, checked their phones, and stopped passers-by.
After that, more than 80 residents of the Anyasu village and surrounding villages and pedestrians were also arrested, and after 5 days, some of the arrested residents were released after paying between 500,000 and 50,00,000 kyats, and most of them have not been released until now.
