TANINTHARYI DIVISION – In Dawei Township, residents reported that the body of a comrade of the People’s Defence Force (PDF) was found in Thingan Tone Village on July 6.
Starting on July 2, junta forces have been launching offensives, invading the villages in the Ashaytaw area, including Thingan Tone Village. Four days later, the body of the People’s Defence Force comrade who was over 30-year-old was found.
“I smelled (the dead body) in the village since yesterday (July 5). I started looking for it today (July 6),” said a local resident.
It is reported that the deceased PDF member was cremated on the same day the body was found. Locals said that the comrade was shot dead by the junta council troops.
An official of the force confirmed that the comrade belonged to the Dawei Dragon Squadron 2. When the local news agency contacted the person in charge of the force, it was unable to ask for detailed information due to communication difficulties.
On July 2, the junta soldiers that were on patrol attacked the vicinity of Thingan Tone Village and clashed against the People’s Defence Forces.
During the attack, the People’s Defence Forces also reportedly lost weapons and ammunition.
The junta council’s propaganda telegram channels claimed that a large number of mines and mortar shells were seized in addition to two automatic guns, one buckshot gun and several hand-made guns, as well as bullets.
During the clash between the two sides, the soldiers of the military council burned down five houses in Thingan Tone Village and also devastated and destroyed many houses.
