YANGON DIVISION – In Thingan Gyun township, local residents said junta was claiming that the land is belonging to the Internal Revenue Department and was forced to demolish the houses of the people who have been living there for over 30 years, and people are left homeless.
Houses built on Railway Avenue, E/B ward Thingan Gyun Township Plot No. 44, Plot No. -2/B, the land area of 0.225 acres were claimed to be built on the land of Thingan Gyun township’s Commissioner of Internal Revenue Office, and the people who had been living there for more than 30 years were forced to move. The homes were ordered to be demolished.
Junta sent a notice to residents to remove by the 29th of February. The E/B Ward Administrator Kyaw Kyaw Aye and the police threatened to follow the order. They will be bulldozed if fail to follow the order. It is known that the people had to leave their homes on February 28th, and became homeless.
“They have no place to live now because of the evil administrator. They had been living there for 30 years. Now they are asked to move out. If they don’t, they will be kicked out. They are removed within 15 days. These are the places where they got the smart cards during Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s government,” a local resident said.
There are 12 families who have been displaced by the destruction of their homes. When the junta forces threatened to destroy the houses, the violent police were involved.
