MON STATE – The Karen National Union (KNU) has reported on July 8 that the fascist junta forces reportedly carried out artillery attacks in Shwe Yaung Pya Village of Thaton Township, KNU’s Brigade – 1 controlled area, on the afternoon of July 7, injuring six civilians including two children.
The junta’s No.314 Artillery Battalion launched three mortar shells and one of them landed and exploded at Shwe Yaung Pya Village, injuring Naw Mu Lar Hpe in her 56s, Naw Mi Htoo in her 18s, Naw Tin Aye in her 57s, Saw Ku in his 25s, 5-year-old boy Saw Sin Min Oo and 9-year-old girl Naw Thingyan Hpaw.
Moreover, three civilians’ houses in the village were destroyed by the junta’s artillery attacks.
The no.314 Artillery Battalion under the coup regime was reportedly stationed at Ka Zaing (locally called as Hto Hpoe Nya Li) near Zee Won Village in Shwe Yaung Pya area of Thaton Township, according to the KNU’s report.
The locals are scared because terrorist junta forces have been firing heavy weapons into the villages in the KNU-administered area every day, according to the news and information of Doo Tha Thoo (Thaton) District.
