TANINTHARYI DIVISION – An official from T5 Wings reported that four junta troops were killed in the attack on Winwa junta camp in Thayetchaung Township.
On March 4 around 12 p.m., joint revolutionary forces attacked the junta camp in Thayetchaung Township using drones, heavy and small weapons. After around two hours of battle, four junta soldiers were killed and it is said that there were also junta forces injured.
“We received a report that our shells killed four junta dogs (junta forces),” said the official from T5 Wings.
The attack was carried out by Federal Column made up of the joint forces of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and PDF T5, Dawei People’s Liberation Force (TPLF), T5 Wings and Daung Nyi Column and the People’s Defence Forces were able to return unharmed.
At around 4 p.m., following the attack after the revolutionary forces fell back, a Mi 2 helicopter took off from the junta council’s Military Operations Command 8 and bombed Winwa camp and nearby villages. A passenger bus parked near Sonesinhpyar Village on the No. 8 Union Highway was caught in the blast and a passenger woman was killed while five travelling civilians were injured.
The revolutionary joint forces informed that the terrorist junta council bombing the villages and passenger buses with no relation to the battle is an inhumane war crimes and that they will be taking action.
Winwa camp is currently under siege by KNLA and PDF joint forces and T5 Wings stated that they will welcome the junta forces at the camp who wish to surrender and join the side of the people.
