BAGO DIVISION – 15 female political prisoners in Tharyarwaddy Prison were placed in solitary confinement for holding Martyrs’ Day movement, according to Myanmar Political Prisoners Network.
They have been placed in solitary confinement since July 19 for wearing black ribbons. “We received the news from a source close to the prison,” said a member of the Myanmar Political Prisoners Network.
The 15 female political prisoners, Ms. Hnin Lae Nandar Lwin, Ms. Shun Ei Phyu, Ms. Nilar Sein, Ms. Su Yi Paying, Ms. Wutyi Lwin, Ms. Aye Thida Kyaw, Ms. Yi Yi Swe, Ms. Lwin Lwin Nyunt (aka) Arjar, Ms. Sandi Nyunt Win, Ms. Aye Thet San, Ms. Shwe Yi Nyunt (aka) Thae Thae, Ms. Yamin Htet, Ms. Htoo Htet Htet Wai, Ms. Myo Thandar Tun and Ms. Moe Myat Thazin, are said to be placed in solitary confinement at building No. 20 in Tharyarwaddy Prison.
A majority of them are said to be youth political prisoners except for one in her sixties.
Tharyarwaddy Prison has been notorious historically for its oppressions of political prisoners.
