BAGO DIVISION – In Thone Sal Town, Thayawati District, in the western part of Bago, there had been an exchange of fire between the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) and the Military Council forces, reported the Garuda Army.
There was a shoot-out alongside Yangon-Pyay Highway, near Wyutyimon Restaurant at the corner of 9th Street, Alalkone Quarter, Thone Sal Town on February 15 at around 8:30 p.m. between the PDFs and the patrolling Military Council troops.
The People’s Defense Forces were waiting to attack the military council troops on patrol.
However, when an unarmed PDF was caught by the military, he tried to run away and the military opened fire which then led to an exchange of fire.
“When the military group tried to arrest our unarmed soldier and the exchange of fire started. Two of our comrades are safe,” said Mr. Oakkar, a military officer of the Thayawati Garuda Force.
He added that a junta policeman was killed during the shootout between the two sides, and Major Kyi Myo Lwin (aka Kyel Lay), a member of the township military council, was also reportedly wounded in the arm.
Thayawati Garuda Force reportedly lost the motorcycle and the two grenades inside the motorcycle in the shoot-out.
That operation was to be carried out by the Thayawati Garuda Army as a part of Operation Nan Htike Aung in the Bago Division.
On January 25, around 1:00 p.m., the junta security gate in Tharayawati District, Gyobingauk Town on Yangon -Pyay Road was attacked by Gyobingauk Guerrilla forces with small arms.
