BAGO DIVISION- Residents have reported that the military council has restricted the right to pass through the Sittaung River near Thuye-thamane village, Wall Township, Bago.
Starting November 29, the military council team stationed in the village of Thuye-thamane reportedly restricted civilians’ boats, and fishing boats from passing through the Sittaung River.
“The villagers on this side rely on the waterway the most. They use it to buy food, catch fish and travel. If it is closed down like this, the villagers will face difficulties,” said a local.
It is reported that the military soldiers threatened to shoot without questioning if anyone passed through the forbidden area.
In addition, all the guard tents of the farms between the village and the shore were ordered to be demolished, and on November 30 morning, the military council set fire to a farm guard tent as a (threat) warning, the residents said.
Currently, about 70 military council forces are stationed in the Thuye-thamane village and are strictly checking entry and exit.
