CHIN STATE- According to Hakha residents, the military council has been summoning young adults to serve in the military.
“Yes, on March 18, they (military affiliates) issued summons (enlistment forms) to two wards of Hakha Town. The witness says they went from one house to another in a group,” he said.
Military Service Summons Committee also states that if those who are summoned fail to report, they will be prosecuted under the Militia Service Law.
According to residents, the military council has started working on the military service law not only in Hakha town in Chin State but also in Falam town and Mindat town.
The military service law issued by the Military Council states that all adult men between the ages of 18 and 35 and women between the ages of 18 and 27 must serve in the military.
On February 10, the Military Council issued an order of Conscription Law, and it was announced that the first batch would start after the Thingyan Holiday (end of April). Currently, women would not be called upon for military service, as officially announced on February 20.
As of March 18, in Hakha, the capital of Chin State, the military council army and Chin armed organizations continue to fight, according to residents of Hakha.
