SHAN STATE – Local residents said that the junta council is breaking into and stealing valuables from the houses of displaced people in the villages along Maenae Mountain in Hopong Township, part of the Pa’O Self-administered Region in southern Shan State.
Since early March, residents of the villages stationed by junta forces had to flee their homes and the junta troops are stealing the valuables from the vacant houses and sending them back to the rear line.
“They stationed in the village. The residents had to flee. So they stole the valuables left in the village such as motorcycles, solar panels and batteries and carried them back to the rear line in cars, addressed to their wives,” informed a resident.
A resident of the village said that the Pa’O Pyithusit militia also accompanied the junta council in doing those things.
“They went together so they must’ve done it together. If they were not accomplices, one team should stop the other team. If they didn’t stop it, it can only be said that they were in agreement,” said the resident.
Although the items were being looted since the start of March, there are not much left to take now. However it is said that in the early period, a large number of motorcycles were taken in cars.
