SOUTHERN SHAN STATE – According to local residents, around 300 people about the age of 17 – 18 who were going to Thailand were arrested last night in Hopong township.
“I don’t know where these young people are from, but some of them were dragged from express cars. They were pulled over and arrested, and that they were interrogated throughout the night in the regional command compound and today they are still being interrogated at the temple in Hopong,” said a local.
It has been reported that after the terrorist army and PNO were defeated in Kyaukkacha, Hopong on February 15, junta side said it is no longer safe and the departments are being asked to pack things up, so some residents are also packing, while others are avoiding in advance to the mountain areas.
Locals are afraid that fighting and heavy weapon attacks will happen near the area as Kyaukkacha village is only 12 miles east of Hopong.
After the fighting intensified in Hsihseng and Pinlaung in Pa’O Self-Administered Zone, the battles expanded rapidly to Hopong.
