MYANMAR – The ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) strongly condemned the terrorist junta council enforcing the conscription law.
APHR said in its February 22 statement that it is shameful behavior by the terrorist junta council to try to control the people using fear.
“We have carefully analyzed the effects of the conscription law on the Myanmar youths. This is another shameful act by the military coup council seeking its own benefits and trying to rule by fear,” commented APHR board member and former Thailand Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya.
In addition, he continued, “We have urged the ASEAN member nations to provide education opportunities and assistance, including visa procedures, to the young people wishing to leave Myanmar and also urged the international communities to support the democratic movements to end the dictatorship.”
Following the enactment of the conscription law, young people and their families have expressed their desire to not serve the junta council and even people who were not involved in democracy activities before are wishing for an end to the military dictatorship.
