MYANMAR – On February 24, the National Unity Government (NUG) and the Anti-Terrorism Central Organization issued a prohibition order against cooperating with the terrorist group’s recruitment of militiamen.
In the statement, the Anti-Terrorism Central Organization said that this order was announced with the aim of preventing and suppressing the crimes related to terrorism crimes mentioned in Section 3, Sub-section b, Sub-section 13, 15 and 16 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
It is reported that cooperating in activities of the terrorist group’s militia recruitment central group such as forcibly gathering people as porters, forcibly arresting people and providing training for military service is a violation of the Anti-Terrorism Act, so a prohibition order has been issued to prevent such cooperations.
The Anti-Terrorism Central Organization has informed that if the prohibition order is not followed, it will take preventive and punitive measures in accordance with the Anti-Terrorism Law.
It is said that as the terrorist group is facing military defeats across the country, it is trying to force the people to participate in violence and serve as human shields in the wars.
Since February 13, 2024, the National Unity Government has announced that because the terrorist war group is an illegal terrorist organization that is trying to seize state power by force, it does not have the authority to enact a law.
