YANGON DIVISION – Residents of the area said that Htay Myint, the governor of Pauk Taw Wa Ward in Insein Township, was shot and killed while eating Mohinga (rice noodle in fish soup) at a shop on April 9 morning.
Htay Myint, who was actively recruiting young people for the junta council under the conscription law in Pauk Taw Wa Ward, Insein Township, reportedly died on the spot when a gunman opened fire while he was having breakfast at a Mohinga shop. After he was shot and killed, the army and the police have been roaming around Insein Township, conducting inspections.
“The administration officer of Pauk Taw Wa Ward was shot four times while eating at a Mohinga shop and died on the spot. He was the one who recruited young people for the junta council, following the conscription law. Junta vehicles are roaming around Insein. They are arresting motorcycles. They are pointing guns at people. Their vehicles are honking and patrolling,” said a local resident.
The deceased Pauk Taw Wa Ward administration officer was a very wicked person who had proclaimed that he would work for the junta council even if he were to die. He forcibly recruited young people as new soldiers for the junta regime using the conscription law and also unfairly extorted money from the people.
