SAGAING DIVISION – It has been reported that National Unity Government (NUG) schools have been closed in Indaw township, Sagaing division as the fascist junta council performed military operations towards the villages using drones.
A member of NUG board of education mentioned that the schools opened by NUG in Indaw township were closed for 7 days as the fascist junta council performed military operations towards Mawteik region, Mezar region and Na Bar village using drones for two consecutive days starting from September 16.
He continued that “it’s been two days that the junta council drones were hovering over the villages. We don’t know what they are intending to do. So the schools in the township were closed for 7 days.”
The junta council drones are hovering over the villages in Indaw township at the same time, during 8 a.m. and around 9:30 p.m., every night, said the locals.
A local resident mentioned that “the junta council drones were hovering over the whole region by turning on and off the light during the night time. Last night, on September 17, the drones were flying very close to the ground, like the length of two bamboo height. It was known that the drones were also flying over Maw Luu region.”
As the junta council conducted the military operations using the drones, 119 NUG schools in over 140 villages in Indaw township were temporarily closed for security reason.
NUG schools were opened in Indaw region since June. The IDP children are going to the nearby NUG schools.
On September 9, a unit of 30 junta council troops had raided into a NUG school in Natmahokekalay village. Even though the teachers and the students were able to elude in time, the school had to temporarily close.
