SOUTHERN SHAN STATE – Pa’O villages in Sanga area, east of Inlay Lake, were threatened by pro-junta PNO militias that salaries must be provided to recruits of militia. It is reported that they are threatening to confiscate the land of those who do not pay.
It is reported that the officials of PNO/PNA Battalion 9 have summoned the Pa’O villages in the Sanga region on February 9th, at the Aung Chan Tha village Monastery in Linlan North village tract.
Pa’O people in the Sanga area were forced to pay salaries and other allowances for PNO militia. Moreover, they have to provide 5 soldiers per village.
For that reason, the residents said that PNO threatened to confiscate the land if they fled, and have to pay 57,000 kyats per household to provide proportional support.
It is learned that there are about ten thousand people and about 40 villages in the Sangar village tract of the Nyaung Shwe area.
