TANINTHARYI DIVISION – On July 26, the International Day for the conservation of the Mangrove ecosystem, seedlings of the mangrove trees were said to have been planted in the Maliwon Village Stream (the tributary of Pakchan River) in Kaw Thoung township, as said by the local people.
The seedlings plantation was reportedly organised by the Institute Oikos, a non-government organisation based in Italy, the department of forestry and the local people.
The local people are also organising to plant mangrove trees in Pakchan region, the border of Thailand-Myanmar.
