KACHIN STATE – The information department of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) announced on March 23 night that three junta battalions on the Bahmo-Myitkyina Road have been captured.
It was mentioned that the three captured junta bases are at Konglaw Village and Nawngkawng Village, Dawtponeyan Sub Township, Momeik Township and artillery battalion 370 at Nawngkawng Village was the last base to be captured on March 23.
KIA first attacked artillery battalion 370, light infantry 438 and rocket battalion 616 on March 21 and captured the latter two within the day while artillery battalion 370 was captured on the third day of the offensive.
However, details of junta casualties and seized weapons and ammunition were not mentioned in the announcement.
KIA is still continuing its offensive to capture junta infantry 141 near Sinbo and Sumprabum based junta strategic base.
In the aftermaths of the March 7 operation by the KIA, the ethnic revolutionary organisation has captured over 30 junta bases including more than ten important strategic bases, stated Colonel Naw Bu, the information officer of KIA.
