MYANMAR-The National Unity Government welcomed the United States’ announcement that it would provide US$116 million as humanitarian aid to Myanmar and Bangladesh, and urged the international community to provide more assistance.
Due to the current instability caused by the military coup d’etat in Myanmar, the number of refugees fleeing the war has increased, as well as the Rohingya refugees who have fled to Bangladesh, according to statement released on September 21 by the United States.
“We intend to help those affected by the crisis in Bangladesh and Myanmar,” US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said.
Since the military junta council usurped state power, the United States has sanctioned the military coup dictators and their related businesses and pressured in order to restore Myanmar’s democracy.
In addition, the United States has provided Myanmar more than 2.2 billion US dollars since August 2017 till now.
