MAGWAY DIVISION- The NLD Party’s National Assembly (Hluttaw) Representative, Mr. Myat Ko is missing, stated the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) members in Thayet District.
Mr. Myat Ko left the PDF camp in Aunglan on May 15 and has been missing until today, stated the responsible person of the Magway Division PDF.
“On the day he was about to leave, he asked his comrades to line up and told no one to follow him after he put a short gun in his waist. So far, there is no specific information about him but various reports,” said a PDF member in Aunglan Township.
Mr. Myat Ko, in charge of Thayet District PDF, was reportedly arrested by the military council after he left the camp. There are also reports that he joined forces with (or defected to) the military regime, but no specific information has been received yet.
“As far as we know, he left the force after having some arguments with his fellows. We have not been able to contact him since then. We cannot confirm the rumors about him, but there is no way the former political detainee would cooperate with a military regime. We have been looking for him until today but are still not receiving any information,” said an official of a Magway-based PDF team.
Since Mr. Myat Ko is still missing, everyone is watching out for the safety of the PDF battalions and members in Thayet District.
Mr. Myat Ko won the 2020 general election in Aunglan Township (Constituency No. 12) as the representative of the National Assembly.
