MYANMAR – Ministry of Health under National Unity Government (NUG) reported on April 28 that the brutal junta council has murdered more than 100 of health workers since the military coup on 1 February 2021.
A total of 104 health workers were killed and 131 were injured by the brutal act of the terrorist junta, according to NUG’s reported data.
The terrorist junta had carried out deliberate airstrike attacks on civilians’ areas, clinics, hospitals and civilians. They also committed inhuman violence on civilians. It was said that the junta had committed 1,293 attacks on the health sector, destroying and devastating 343 clinics and hospitals, according to reported figures.
On April 25, the atrocious junta army launched aerial bombings with its fighter jet over Vawmm’tu Hospital in Mindat Township, devastating the entire hospital, killing five people (four inpatients and a caregiver), reported by the Ministry of Health of NUG in the statement.
Local based media reported that the genocidal junta bombed 500-pound bombs two times over Vawmm’tu Hospital on April 25, and bombarded again over Vawmm’tu Hospital on April 28, destroying the hospital and the residential houses near the hospital.
The terrorist junta council’s targeting of hospitals and the health sector is the violation of the Geneva Convention. It is a flagrant violation of UN Security Council resolutions and international humanitarian and human rights laws.
“The Ministry of Health will bring justice to the health workers and the affected people and promise to take strict legal action against the military council and their accomplices,” the statement said.
NUG has urged those who work with the fascist junta army who are committing war crimes and supporters to stop their actions. The statement said that the ministry will implement public health care activities in collaboration with health personnels, ethnic organizations, local organizations, and the people.
