MYANMAR – The Facebook page of the People Party was removed on Saturday morning (June 24). Ko Ko Gyi, the former leader of the 88 Generation, founded this party.
The Facebook Team informed them that their page didn’t comply with community standards and removed it.
Regarding this case, Kyaw Kyaw Htwe @ U Mar Ki, the party’s Central Secretary – 1, stated that it is the result of those who dislike Ko Ko Gyi and the party’s political behavior.
Ko Ko Gyi was sentenced to prison in 1991 for leading the 88 Revolution against the junta. In 2012, he was released under the command of President Thein Sein, who had the support of the junta.
However, he is now attempting to participate in the election led by Min Aung Hlaing’s junta council and has registered his party. That’s why the public criticizes him as a member of the junta.
The Facebook Team also removed the accounts and pages of those associated with the junta council, including Min Aung Hlaing, due to the continuous murder of civilians by the junta forces throughout the country after the coup.
