AYEYARWADDY DIVISION- According to Fire and Rescue Department, over 6,000 people have been fleeting the Cyclone Mocha in Ayeyarwady Division on Wednesday (May 10).
Most of the locals from Latputta and Myaungmya Townships are evading the incoming storm.
“Some go to big cities and others to the cyclone shutters. Currently, we are supporting each other for food and dry rations,” said a local of Latputta Township.
The Junta council appointed Minister of Ayeyarwady Division has been posting photos of preparation for the storm together with the Fire and Rescue team but no aid is receive yet on the ground.
About 5,000 locals from Latputta Township, around 500 from Myaungmya Township, and 500 from Mawkyun Township have been fleeting to safety in Ayeyarwady Division.
Locals have been staying at the cyclone shutter and strong buildings such as schools and monastery but still have needs for food and dry rations, stated a local.
In May 2008, hundreds of thousands of people in the Ayeyarwady Division resulted in tragic death due to Nargis Cyclone. More people are prepared lately and evacuating Cyclone Mocha in advance, which is a good thing, stated the locals.
