AYEYARWADDY DIVISION – The local residents reported that the junta soldiers at the inspection gate at Pyapon Bridge have been capturing the passers-by civilians without reason and extorting money.
The junta soldiers deployed at the checkpoint of the bridge reportedly asked for vehicle registration card, alleged the people with various charges and asked for money.
The terrorist soldiers and police at the checkpoint have been asking for money from the people for about 7 months now. At least 1,000 to 5,000 kyats per person is demanded, and at least 100 people per day are captured and asked for money.
“The police and the soldiers at the Pyapon Bridge check whether the IC is brought along. If the IC is available, then they would say it has to be renewed and asked for money. These junta thugs have been doing this almost every day. Young people from the Yangon Garment Factory are also asked for money whenever they return home. The wages were extorted even before they could support their parents. The young workers always have scared looks on their faces, afraid of the junta thugs since they were threatened with guns,” said a local resident.
