AUSTRALIA – Deputy Minister Khun Bahan Htan from the Ministry of Human Rights, the National Unity Government of Myanmar was said to have attended the Kayan National Day and Fund Raising event for the internally displaced people, organised in Australia on April 6.
During the event, the deputy minister said, that the Kayan ethnic group is enthusiastically fighting against the military dictator along with other ethnic groups to achieve self-determination, self-administration and federal democratic union, that the Kayan ethnic group, along with other ethnic groups, has been involved in revolutions from the ancient feudal rule, English Colonial period, Japan ruling period, 1962 coup to the current Spring Revolution and urged to remain highly spirited even though the revolution period is over three years long, remembering the deceased comrades, the comrades who are crippled and the civilians who are in big trouble.
Kayan National Day and Fund Raising Event were reportedly organised to sustain Kayan National Culture and to raise funds for over one million internally displaced people from the Kayan Region.
