KAREN STATE – Cobra Column issued a statement on May 27 saying that during the battles that broke out in Karen state for two months, the members of revolutionary forces captured 3 junta military camps and eliminated 114 junta council troops including the junta officers.
The combination of Junta’s battalion 44 and Thingan Nyi Naung Military Operation Command of Border Guard Forces (BGF) raided the brigade 6 territory of Karen National Union (KNU) with massive forces and the alliance of revolutionary forces: Karen National Union (KNU) /Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), Cobra Column 1, Cobra Column 2, Black Leopard Column, Golden Eagle, Federal Wings and Yaung Ni Column, fought against the junta council troops.
According to the Cobra Column, 114 junta council troops including the junta officers were killed, 129 troops were injured and 11 troops were captured alive.
The revolutionary forces managed to capture three junta council’s subordinate BGF camps and confiscated 41 weapons including a 60 MM mortar (long) and a 60 MM mortar (short) and a 40 MM launcher.
It was also included in the statement that 11 comrades from revolutionary forces sacrificed their lives for the country, 39 comrades were injured and 4 drones were damaged.
Cobra Column’s statement also stated that in addition to the combination of the junta council forces and BGF launching offensive attacks with massive forces on the ground, they launched aerial bombardments 22 times, fired heavy weapons 1081 times during the 2-month long battle. Because of the junta council’s attacks, a civilian was killed, two civilians were injured, 41 buildings were destroyed and at least 10 cattle were killed.
