The encounters had been ongoing throughout Karen State, including Myawaddy and Kyainseikgyi townships and Lay Kay Kaw Myothit between the brigades under KNU, People’s Defence Force (PDFs) and the fascist junta forces and its subordinate, Border Guard Forces (BGF).
The terrorist junta soldiers had committed mass killings, carried out unprovoked offensive and arson attacks in civilians’ areas during the fights, and nearly 600,000 of residents had been forced to leave from their homes due to those attacks and sheltered in on the border area of Thailand and the territory of Thailand.
From July 2022 to June 2023, the KNU provided emergency aids to around 250,000 Internally Displaced People (IDP), but food, shelters and medicines are not enough to provide them because the IDP population has increased and the current rainy season.
