SAGAING DIVISION – An official from Kyunhla-Kanbalu Activists Team stated that some civilian casualties occurred due to the bombardment from two junta fighter jets targeting four villages in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Division without having any battles.
On Thursday (February 1) at around 11:10 a.m., one junta fighter jet that took off from Tada U Airport carried out airstrikes onto Thin Taw Village’s Monastery, Zaw Chaung Village’s Monastery and Kan Gyi Village located at the northern part of Kanbalu Township, resulting in some civilian casualties from Thin Taw Village.
In addition, another junta fighter jet from Tada U Airport dropped the bombs again onto the surrounding of Pint Thar (Te Pin) Village located at the northern part of Kanbalu Township on the same day (February 1) at 11:25 a.m. but there was said to be no harm to civilians.
“They (junta thugs) fired without having any battles. They committed airstrikes onto the residential villages. There are said to have been casualties in Thin Taw Village. We cannot verify the exact numbers as the phone network has been disconnected by the junta dogs (soldiers),” an official of Kyunhla-Kanbalu Activists Team said.
