SHAN STATE – Local people reported that although things are relatively calm in Thibaw, over a thousand MNDAA (Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army) arrived at Sintin Village in eight vehicles with heavy weapons and took station.
The Kokang forces arrived in massive numbers at Sintin Village near Dohtawatti Bridge in Thibaw while the Ta’ang (Palaung) forces, who were originally there left the area, according to locals.
“We had to carry the mines and heavy artillery shells till 2 a.m. last night (June 28). The houses and the village are full of Kokang forces. They arrived after the Palaung forces left,” said a resident of Sintin Village.
Meanwhile, in Kyaukme, a Y12 plane of the junta council reportedly dropped over 30 bombs over the Chinese cemetery, Kyauktaung, Panhat, Kyaukmegyi, and the town center around 7 p.m. on March 28.
Around 500 of the people who fled from Kyaukme town center are taking shelter at Chaungchauk Village and Zawti Shan Monastery in the village and are said to be in need of rations and medicine.
In Pyin Oo Lwin, junta soldiers that can make up around two battalions were admitted to the 700-bed hospital and several residents have already fled to Mandalay as the battles have reached near Wetwun and Bantbway.
The resurging second wave of 1027 in northern Shan has so far, from June 25 to 29, seen conflicts between over 10,000 soldiers of the TNLA, MDY PDF, four battalions under Mogok Strategic, Dan People’s Liberation Force (DPLF/DPLA) and the terrorist junta forces, resulting in the revolutionary forces capturing Nawnghkio and the majority of Kyaukme with ongoing confrontations in Thibaw and threatening the junta council’s hold on Mogok, Pyin Oo Lwin, and Lashio.
