BAGO DIVISION – Central Karen National Union (KNU) announced that two civilians death, nine civilians including three children injuries, and damages in houses, schools, and monasteries occurred due to the junta council’s nine heavy artillery shelling and six airstrikes on Kyuak Gyi Township, Bago Division two consecutive days on April 22 and 23 afternoons.
After the junta council’s airborne attack, two civilians: Ms. San (55) and Ms. Kay Thi Tun (46) were said to be dead, and nine civilians: Ms. Pu Cho (56), Mr. Khine Tun Oo (25), Ms. Naw Nan Htwe, Ms. Nyar Naw Gay (66), Ms. Tu Tu Phoe (65), Mr. Aung Kg Mhan (14), Mr. Saw Sai Htet Oo (1), Mr. Htet Cho Ag (17) and Mr. Saw Than Pyae Zaw (6 months), were said to be injured.
In addition, as the junta’s Infantry Battalion (IB-264) based in Peinzalok fired three times with Howitzer 155mm on April 22 and 23 afternoons at around 1:28 p.m., shells landed onto Hpayargyi and Baw Ka Htar villages. Then, the junta troops released 60mm heavy artillery again which landed between Inn Ba Lar and Than Seik.
On April 23 at around 9:21 a.m., the junta forces attacked by dropping one bomb with Jet Fighter onto Baw Ka Htar Village and fired two times with an Oerlikon cannon as per the announcement from Central KNU.
