BAGO DIVISION – KNU (Karen National Union) Central stated on June 1 that due to the junta council firing heavy weapons, two civilians including a child were killed in Kyaukkyi township, Bago division.
The fascist junta council troops from the infantry battalion 307 fired heavy weapons towards Natlaung village on May 30. The heavy weapon shellings landed over the village and an 8-year-old Ms. Naw Mu Mu and a 36-year-old Mr. Maung were said to have been killed at the scene and a 45-year-old Ms. Thet was injured.
A Kyaukkyi local mentioned that “without ongoing battles, the junta council troops fired the heavy weapons almost every day. They fired the heavy weapons towards the village, assuming that there were PDF (People Defense Forces) and KNU (Karen National Union) in the village. Two shellings landed over the village and a mother and a daughter and a man were hit by the shellings.”
Due to the heavy weapon attack, two civilians’ houses were damaged, besides the civilian casualties.
On May 31, the coup council dropped two bombs over Lel Htu Lu village, where the KNU township office is located, using two fighter jets. Due to the attack, three office buildings and a civilian house were damaged.
Moreover, Kyaukkyi-based light infantry battalion 439 fired one heavy weapon over Thingankone village on May 12. Due to the shellings, a man and a woman were said to have been injured.
